About Precise for Paws, INC.
In February of 2017, our world was rocked when we took our Bull Mastiff, Nakita, to the vet and found out that she had cancer. At only 3 years old, she had T-cell Lymphoma that had spread throughout her body to her kidneys, blood, and bone marrow. The most effective treatment for canine lymphoma is chemotherapy, but it does not cure it. With multi-drug therapy, dogs with T-cell Lymphoma have an average survival of 6-9 months. Without chemotherapy, the prognosis is very poor, having an average survival rate of less than 3 months. (NC State Veterinary Hospital, 2019) We were not ready to let her go, and so we began the very emotionally and financially draining process of treatment at Cornell University Hospital for Animals. Nakita was a trooper through it all and received treatment at Cornell for years. We followed her oncologist then to three different veterinary offices because we love and trusted her immensely with Kita's care. Nakita lived longer than any of the dogs diagnosed around the same time as her. She truly was a miracle. We said goodbye to her in January of 2024, just one month after celebrating her 10th birthday.
During our journey of caring for a pet with an incurable cancer, we had numerous organizations that we were able to reach out to that helped us. Blue Buffalo donated to pay a portion of some of Kita's chemo treatments. Live Like Rue had sent us care baskets with toys and blankets for our pups. Organizations like this are the reason we started Precise for Paws. It was amazing to have others rooting for Kita and giving us the strength to carry on. Providing some of these same services (and more!) to others is what Precise for Paws is all about!

Mission
Our mission at, Precise for Paws, INC., is to provide a better quality of life for animals. We hope to accomplish this through education, community outreach, and by providing a variety of resources to owners/caretakers of the animals in our community. We want to improve and save animal lives by promoting care and compassion.
Our services work in two ways:
1. Applying for financial assistance for your personal pet.
1. Applying for your personal pet:
We save animals’ lives by offering grants that help cover the cost of emergency or specialty care for pets whose families are unable to afford the full expense of life-saving or life-enhancing treatment.
Precise for Paws supports families that are facing significant financial hardship whose pets, with proper treatment, have a strong chance of recovering to a healthy, happy life. Families are still responsible for a portion of the treatment costs as Precise for Paws does not guarantee to cover the cost of vet bills in their entirety. We focus exclusively on funding treatment costs and do not cover initial exams, diagnostic tests, spaying/neutering, or routine and preventative care.
Applications for assistance will only be considered if:
-
You live in Clinton, Centre, or Lycoming county.
-
You have not received a donation from Precise for Paws within 1 year.
-
Your pet needs emergency or specialty veterinary care.
-
Your pet has already been seen by a licensed veterinarian.
-
The veterinarian has determined your pet has a good prognosis with treatment.
-
You must be able to show that your pet is up to date on vaccines and is spayed/neutered if over a year old.
-
You must be able to show an approval/denial of CareCredit.
-
And the treatment plan has not yet been paid as we do not reimburse for any payments already made, our donations are made directly to the vet's office.
Our services work in two ways:
2. Applying for financial assistance for a stray/abandoned animal.

Adoption Application
We are a foster based rescue and do not house many animals at a time. If you are interested in any of our animals this is where you would apply for adoption. Our adoption fee is $50 per animal. Each are fully vetted before adoption. (spay/neuter depending on age, you will have to agree to have them fixed within 6 months if they are not fixed at the time of adoption. If using Oak Hollow, we will cover the cost of the surgery in its entirety.)
